Rachad Alao is a seasoned technology executive with over two decades of international leadership experience spanning Silicon Valley, Canada, and France. Born in Benin, West Africa and raised in Côte d'Ivoire, he moved to France at the age of 16 to pursue elite engineering studies, eventually building a distinguished career at the forefront of responsible artificial intelligence, mobile operating systems, and embedded multimedia technology.
Currently serving as Senior Director of Engineering at Meta Superintelligence Labs, Rachad leads the company's AI Trust and Safety organization — a team dedicated to building safe and responsible GenAI foundation models, including Meta's Avocado models and Llama open-source models. His work ensures that Meta's AI systems are developed with AI safety, fairness, and transparency at their core.
Before his current role, Rachad served as Senior Director of Engineering at Google, where he led the Applied Responsible AI effort as well as Google Maps User-Generated Content, Trust and Safety AI engineering teams. His earlier tenure at Facebook AI saw him pioneer the company's Responsible AI effort, co-founding the Privacy Preserving ML team and developing groundbreaking fairness measurement methodologies including the open-source Opacus library for differential privacy in PyTorch.
Rachad is also an angel investor and advisor, holding advisory positions at Nova Farming Inc. and MarketCipher Partners, and is a recognized speaker at major AI and ethics forums worldwide.
